Perhaps you watched President Obama's final State of the Union Address recently. Maybe you even played this drinking game penned by one of our own. Or maybe you have no idea about what I'm talking about and you spent your evening watching Netflix. Either way, I'm not here to talk politics -- I'm here to talk about a bar where you can go that will make it seem like you're in-the-know ... you know, politically.
City Council Restaurant & Bar is located in Uptown Dallas and brings new meaning to the phrase, "I have a city council meeting to attend." Oh, have you never said this? Well, get ready.
The food is delicious and staff is happy to accommodate all sorts of dietary restrictions. Not only does the menu have several vegetarian and vegan options, it offers four pick-your-protein entrees that list tofu as one of the choices.
Another section of the menu vegetarians can appreciate: The cocktails. There are 10 options, including a frozen raspberry Moscow Mule. If that sounds too chilly for the ever-fluctuating weather, warm up with the Barrel Legislation. Concocted using Kentucky-distilled Bulleit Bourbon, fresh lemon juice, mint syrup and blackberry liqueur, this cocktail is toasty, but still refreshing. It's the go-to choice for those working to expand their whiskey palate or craving a crisp, fruit-infused drink, but desire the taste of bourbon.
Another option for bourbon lovers is the Dirty Politician, which pairs the spirit with sweet vermouth, lemon juice and strawberry vanilla syrup. Other cocktails I recommend are the Motions, Orders and Resolutions, which features rum and pineapple; the Gin & Juice Pro Tem (gin and lavender and ginger, oh my!); and Communications from Mexico, which marries mango and Patron.
